A diabetes trial did not show a clear benefit

A small placebo-controlled capsule study in treated type 2 diabetes found no significant improvement in HbA1c or fasting glucose. The original abstract does not establish glimepiride co-use. This limits a blanket claim that the supplement necessarily adds substantial glucose lowering.

Positive findings came from a different setting

A trial of a specified unripe-fruit extract found changes in some glucose-challenge measures in people with prediabetes. It excluded medicines that affect glucose. Those findings cannot measure an interaction with glimepiride.

Food and extracts are not interchangeable

A culinary serving, juice and concentrated extract can provide different exposures. The preparation and other ingredients matter when reviewing the product. A study of one formulation cannot establish a safe amount for every bitter-melon supplement.
